Our Favorite Skincare Oils and Their Benefits

Our favorite plant-based oils nourish skin while supplying vitamins and antioxidants, reducing inflammation, healing scars, and reducing redness.

Here are some of our most used and loved skincare oils:

  • Apricot Kernel Oil: derived from the seeds of the apricot fruit. High in fatty acids and vitamins A, C, and E. Apricot kernel oil is also high in unsaturated fat, which makes it conditioning and moisturizing. Apricot kernel oil has antiseptic and antibacterial effects which can help reduce blemishes and protect against environmental damage.

 

  • Argan Oil: derived from kernels of the Argan tree native to Morocco. Argan Oil contains Vitamins A and E, Omega-6, CoQ10, and Squalane, providing moisturizing, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.

 

  • Castor Oil: extracted from the castor bean plant. Castor oil is a staple in soap recipes due to the beautiful lather it creates. It’s also rich in essential fatty acids and has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Castor oil also contains triglycerides which help remove dirt from the skin while maintaining moisture.

 

  • Cocoa Butter: extracted from the cacao bean, it moisturizes and improves skin elasticity. Cocoa butter also contains antioxidants and polyphenols which reduce inflammation and fight free radicals.

 

  • Coconut Oil: pressed form the meat of coconuts, coconut oil helps skin retain moisture while also providing antibacterial protection. It reduces inflammation and helps heal wounded skin.

  • Jojoba Oil: extracted from jojoba seeds, jojoba oil (which is technically a wax ester) has a chemical composition similar to the sebum naturally found in our skin. It helps balance our skin’s oil production, hydrates, reduces redness, and is a great source of antioxidants like Vitamin E and B-complex.

 

  • Kokum Butter: extracted from the kokum tree’s fruit, kokum butter moisturizes, provides antioxidants, and has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

 

  • Olive Oil: derived from pressed olives, this oil is mild, nourishing, rich in Vitamins A, D, E, and K, and has antibacterial properties.

 

  • Rosehip Oil: found in the fruit and seeds of rose bushes, rosehip oil contains Vitamins A, C, and F, fatty acids, the antioxidant lycopene, and is also anti-inflammatory.

 

  • Shea Butter: found in nuts of the African shea tree, shea butter moisturizes, reduces redness and inflammation, and contains Vitamins A and E.

 

  • Sweet Almond Oil: pressed from edible almonds, sweet almond oil contains vitamins A, E, and B6, zinc, and Omega-3 fatty acids. It conditions, moisturizes, reduces inflammation, improves skin tone, and reduces the appearance of scars.
